From Your Artistic Director

Hi everyone! I hope you are well and staying safe. You know, I love being at Timber Lake Playhouse so much, and every season I look forward to the opportunity to return to our Theater in the Woods and see all of your faces as we gather to share stories that make us laugh, cry and celebrate life!

Right now, rehearsals should be going on in the rehearsal pavilion, sets should be being built, costumes being crafted and concerts being planned. But the reality is, the campus is empty. That saddens me greater than I ever thought possible.

We have been busy these last couple weeks and our wonderful board of directors has voted to open TLP’s doors in August! Of course, this will depend on if our governor will move our region into Phase 5, allowing us to gather. If that happens, we will be opening a truncated summer season of two shows. The first will be our World Premier Musical, What A Wonderful World opening August 6th followed by Jesus Christ Superstar, opening August 20th. September we will bring you Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story opening September 10th.

Even though we are hoping in earnest open in August, the reality is we are facing a large financial deficit with the loss of four of our mainstage shows and a number of concerts and events.  We need your help in making this transition to a condensed summer possible. If you can, I hope you will consider making a gift to TLP, to help us offset the costs COVID19 has burdened us with. You can do so by clicking on the donate link on the homepage.

We are still in the planning phase for the fall, including concerts, shows, our haunted trails and escape room that we will announce at a later date.

For now, we must have faith that we WILL get through this together. We must be unified to keep TLP the mainstay it has become in its 59-year history! The arts are what brings us together. It bonds us to each other. And although we cannot be together now, we will be soon. Until that time, please continue to stay healthy, stay safe and take comfort in knowing that we are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

In Solidarity,

Paul
