From Your Artistic Director

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On Thursday, June 25th, the TLP Board of Directors met virtually to discuss four possible scenarios to open for our 2020 season. The biggest talking point was the new information the Illinois governor gave the state on Monday June 22nd. It said that theaters were now allowed to open in Phase 4 (previously he stated no theaters would be allowed to open until Phase 5), but with a limited amount of only 50 tickets can be sold per performance. We knew that if we could only sell 50 tickets per show in our 375 seat theatre, we would not be able to accomodate the more than 1000 tickets already pre-sold. Couple that with the economic factors and it seemed like a an unscalable wall. With that, the board made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020 season. This news saddens ALL of us as we look forward to sharing our summers together at the place we call ‘Your Theater in the Woods’. I want to say how extremely proud I am to be a part of an organization that cares so deeply for our patrons, staff and artists we bring here every year from around the country. I know how difficult this decision was, but one I feel is also the right decision at this time.

But the show WILL go on!!

Right now, the team is working on ways we can keep the show going virtually. Although we will not be gathering on our stage this summer, we will still bring you concerts, shows, classes and updates right to your home. We will be rolling out those plans in the coming days so please continue to check back for more info including our Virtual Concert of the TLP Stars!

I miss seeing all of your faces before and after shows, but know that our plan is to forge ahead as we get the campus ready for 2021 and stay connected with you for the remainder of the summer!

Keep watching TLP Live on Sunday’s at 6:30pm and bring your comments and questions as Dan and I love seeing them!!

Thank you for your continued support of this amazing place we call Timber Lake Playhouse!

Stay strong my friends. TLP Strong!

Paul
